Pfizer has issued a rebate of $2,000 to the company for a new company in New York that will help it buy a new drug used to treat a heartburn treatment called Nexium.
The new company, called the Nexium Remedy, will have a total value of $2,500, up from the previous $2,000.
Pfizer said it was "reviewing the case" and would "review the total cost of the Nexium from the current price."
The company said it would provide a rebate of up to $100 for a Nexium and $300 for a generic version of the drug. The company also will have to provide the generic equivalent of the Nexium.
The new Nexium is a new form of the anti-inflammatory drug, naproxen, used to treat ulcers and stomach and intestinal ulcers caused by people with heart problems or taking heart drugs for high blood pressure.
The Nexium, which is in development for the company, is expected to be in clinical trials for the treatment of ulcers and stomach and intestinal ulcers, or heartburn.
"We have a lot of interest in what is the new Nexium in terms of new life and new life. I have the company in mind to have a large number of patients with ulcers who will benefit from this," said Dr. John D. Stoner, the company's chief medical officer.
The company is trying to get to an American market that will be cheaper than the U. S. market for heartburn pills, the company said.
In a statement, Pfizer said it has had "no problem" in the past with the Nexium in the U. and that it has also been able to produce the drug's generic equivalent.
"Pfizer will work with patients, physicians and other healthcare providers to provide a generic, free of charge and for the full range of benefits," the statement said.
The company also hopes to provide Nexium for those with heartburn that does not respond to other treatments.
Pfizer Inc. has agreed to sell the company's U. headquarters in Chicago, New York and Puerto Rico to Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals LP for $1.8 billion.The deal was reached after a number of key factors and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
The company has been looking at other options that would help it achieve its U. headquarters in New York and Puerto Rico, said Dr. Michael W. Gerhard, a Pfizer spokesman.
"Pfizer is committed to working with patients, physicians and other healthcare providers to create a better, more efficient treatment for all diseases," he said in an e-mail.
The deal was expected to be completed in the third quarter and will close in the fourth quarter. Pfizer had planned to continue its efforts to get a new company.
